Job Description

Apero is a small, tight-knit, remote team of contractors/freelancers who come together on projects we are passionate about. We are currently made up of 5 developers, a designer and a project manager.

Our Stack

• Backend: Laravel 10+, PHP 8+, Mysql 8+

• Frontend: VueJS, Bootstrap, Vite

• Infrastructure: Forge, Cloudflare, AWS, Elastic Beanstalk

• Version control: Git

• Testing: Pest or PHPUnit

What You’ll Do

• Maintain and enhance existing features across multiple Laravel projects

• Implement new functionality, add tests, fix bugs, high five, repeat

• Ensure high-quality, tested, and maintainable code

• Engage in code reviews, peer validation, and QA testing

• Contribute ideas to improve architecture, performance, and maintainability

• Weekly dev chats to review work and talk shop

What We’re Looking For

• Curiosity and a drive to improve

• Ideal candidates have ~3+ years professional Laravel experience, but we care more about skill and drive than exact years.

• Strong understanding of Eloquent, query optimization, and API design

• Intermediate knowledge of VueJS

• Comfortable writing feature and unit tests in Laravel (Pest or PHPUnit).

• Attention to detail, ownership mindset, and curiosity for complex systems

• Understanding of queues, jobs, events, and broadcasting in Laravel

• Balanced life outside the monitor
