Job Title: Director of Human Resources

Location: On-site, Queens, NY (multi-site nonprofit healthcare organization)

Salary Range: $125,000 – $160,000 annually + comprehensive benefits package

Overview

The Director of Human Resources will oversee all HR functions and guide people-related strategy, ensuring HR programs support organizational goals and a strong employee experience. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for supporting staff engagement, regulatory compliance, and talent development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs aligned with organizational priorities and mission.
  • Lead and mentor the HR team to ensure effective service delivery across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, HR operations, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations; lead investigations and provide guidance on employee relations matters.
  • Oversee talent acquisition, retention strategies, and employee development initiatives to support growth and workforce stability.
  • Manage HR metrics, compensation practices, and HRIS systems to ensure data accuracy and support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including experience overseeing HR functions at a senior level.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, organizational development, and talent management best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience driving culture, engagement, and organizational change.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
